In Command, open the SmartPlan you want to run (start with My Quarterly Call Plan).

Add the portion of your database you need to talk to this quarter. That is your Conversations per Quarter number.

On the Select Start Date screen, choose "Stagger start over the next few days".

Set "Maximum contacts per day" to your Conversations per Day number.

Confirm. Command spreads the activations so a steady set of contacts hits your task list every business day.
